So, if you know you chronically have 50 Chrome tabs open or otherwise need massive amounts of memory, you’re better off taking the next level up of RAM than recommended here.

Apple’s chips handle RAM very efficiently, delegating to the SSD when overloaded. This is especially relevant for working memory.
